FAQ

How far in advance should I book a music group for my event?

We take bookings up to two years in advance and recommend booking as soon as possible to ensure availability of our musicians. However, we have had many last minute calls (some of them on the day before!) and were able to put together an amazing package.

What do we need to provide for the musicians?

Every musician will need a straight-backed, armless chair. For outdoor venues, if there's a chance of rain, all musicians will need FULL cover to protect our instruments, and in cold conditions, a heat lamp or move indoors is much appreciated. We can handle the sun, but we do like some shade!!

What happens if my ceremony runs over the scheduled time?

Overtime is provided at the rate of $75/musician, per ½ hour at the availability of the musicians. Musicians are only contracted for the agreed upon time and are not obligated to stay overtime.

I love that song by [Insert Artist]! Can you play it while I walk down the aisle?

Sure! We have a great selection of pop/rock music in our repertoire and we're arranging new songs all the time.  We can also do new arrangements of your favorite song for an additional fee.

I want to book Bow Tied Music for my event.  What do I need to do?

Great!  We have a standard contract and require a 20% deposit to hold the date and time. Payments can be made online through PayPal, Venmo, or by check. Once that stuff is handled, we can talk about the fun stuff, like your song selections!

Can you provide amplification?

Yes, we partner with wonderful vendors and can facilitate amplification for an additional fee. Unless specified, all performances are acoustic.

Do you attend the wedding rehearsal?

Generally, no. Before your wedding, we will discuss all of the music selections and the logistics of your ceremony. I use this information to time the processionals properly, and do not need to attend the rehearsal. It is our job to make the music fit whatever happens – you do not need to time the processional to match the length of the song.

As needed, we can lengthen or shorten any piece to accommodate the size of the bridal party and the length of the aisle. On your wedding date, we always arrive in plenty of time to go over any last-minute changes with your planner or officiant. I am also happy to speak with them in advance to go over any of their requirements.

If you or your officiant require our attendance at the rehearsal, it is charged at an regular hourly rate. Depending upon the distance, overnight accommodations may also be required.

What types of weddings do you play?

We are happy to provide music for traditional and non-traditional ceremonies. We have experience with all Christian denominations, Catholic masses, Jewish services, and non-religious weddings. LGBTQ+ couples are very welcome!
